Hemenway Park is your typical city park located in Boulder City, Nevada.
This small, clean and quiet park (approx. 10 acres in size) is adjacent to a housing subdivision with great views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Mead in the distance.
Hemenway Park is located just off of Boulder City Parkway (US-93 BUS.) and is a perfect place to visit while in the area or traveling to / from Las Vegas (via Boulder City) and Hoover Dam.
The parks main attraction is Bighorn Sheep that come from the surrounding mountains to water and graze.
These sheep are members of the River Mountains herd and have been frequenting the park for about 30 years.
The Bighorns are very accustomed to people and have been known to graze within a couple of yards of their admirers: a "real" opportunity to photograph these magnificent animals.
Please respect these beautiful creatures, give them room as they graze, keep an eye on your children, dogs are "not" allowed.
Remember, they are wild animals and are subject to "wild" behavior if stressed.
Of Interest:
Bighorn Sheep that frequent Hemenway Park arrive at various times of the day, "making it difficult" to know when they might be around.
Unfortunately, for visitors hoping to see them, they don't adhere to a set schedule (they are of course wild animals).
They may be in the park on any given day or time of day, but may not show up the next day or might be "running" late (or early).
With this in mind, the city of Boulder City has introduced a "new" live webcam (late August 2023) for viewing Bighorn Sheep that visit Hemenway Park.
The webcam covers a majority (but not all) of Hemenway Park.
The "Ram Cam" is active 24/7 and can be accessed by clicking this link.
..........
Ram Cam notes:
(1) the Ram Cam link (immediately above) opens a new browser tab (Hemenway Park Ram Cam) - to return to the Hemenway Park webpage "close" the "Ram Cam" tab, click to "activate" the Hemenway Park tab or "utilize the back button" depending on your device.
(2) the live Ram Cam video will take approx. 8 seconds to "fully resolve" it's resolution.
(3) the Ram Cam at times may be under maintenance, or have other issues which prohibit viewing: if this occurs check back later.
