A labyrinth is a meandering path (maze) with a singular path leading to the center.
Labyrinths, which appear in many cultures around the world, have been documented to produce benefits on the human body and brain.
It is said that benefits from "experiencing" a labyrinth include reduced blood pressure, relaxed breathing rates, chronic pain relief, help with insomnia and a meditative mental state.
The Laughlin Labyrinths were created by Wes Dufek and were designed to create a "calming experience" for those who take the time to walk the mazes.
Mr. Dufek built the labyrinths rock by rock, the first of which took three and a half months to construct.
Today, there are nine unique labyrinths of different shapes, sizes and patterns all of which are designed to "encourage tranquility, inner dialogue and acceptance of the unpredictability of daily life".
A visit to the Laughlin Labyrinths is a unique opportunity to experience Mr. Dufek's vision of the healing power of labyrinths and his unique mazes.
As you visit the site, be mindful of "others" who have come to experience Mr. Dufek's vision and "respect his work" by not removing or adding any rocks to these amazing labyrinths.
